Deep Cuts: Metal

Death - Scream Bloody GoreDeath is an American metal band founded in 1983 by Chuck Schuldiner in Orlando, FL. Death released seven definitive albums including "Scream Gore Death" and "Spiritual Healing". Their best albums have been re-released in 2011 and have quickly found another generation of fans that have grown tired of slick, over-produced pop masquerading as metal or "hard rock" including Avenged Sevenfold, Incubus, Linkin Park and many other modern "rock" bands.

Death's first album in 1987, Scream Bloody Gore, flushes synth pop, sample based loops, drum machines and the vapid glitter of modern music directly down the maggot hole with biting tracks and a no nonsense approach to recording that reflects the best of the genre. Sadly, the band ceased to exist after Schuldiner died of brain cancer in 2001.
