Deep Cuts: Rock

John Entwhistle - Smash Your Head Against The WallJohn Entwhistle, the "quiet" bassist for the Who, in light of The Who's overwhelming success both commercially and critically in the late 1960's and early 1970's, was the first in the band to record and release a solo album in 1971. He titled it Smash Your Head Against The Wall and included a Neil Young cover.

In June of 2002, Mr. Entwistle died in a hotel room in the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. This came one day before the first show of The Who's U.S. tour. A stripper/groupie woke up to find the corpse of 57-year-old Entwhistle beside her. The Clark County medical examiner determined that death a cocaine induced heart attack.
