Deep Cuts From Bloggy's Vault: Art Rock

Fever To Tell
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' debut album "Fever To Tell" released in 2003, and "Show Your Bones" from 2006, both deliver a synthesis of back-to-basics rock 'n roll recalling the energy of the Stooges combined with the experimental vigor of The Faint. The group's focus is on the trio's talents and has resulted in a direct connection with their audience. The YYY's are shuffled into the art rock section, not because they sound like Pavement - they don't, but due to the intricacy of their performances, resulting in a sound that raises traditional rock up to an art form - art rock.

Although their 2009 release, "It's Blitz", moves in another musical direction - the unique talents of guitarist Nick Zinner and the amazing vocal power and undeniable personal warmth of singer Karen "O" Orzolek make the YYY's a stand out rock group.
