Deep Cuts From Bloggy's Vault: Alt Rock

Bloc Party
Bloc Party's 2005 debut entitled Silent Alarm combines the tremendous vocal/writing talents of Kele Okereke with icy guitars from Russel Lissack in track after track of fierce grinding anthems. Their songs are emotionally charged dedications to fighting alienation in collosal metropolitan graveyards, biting back against urban ennui and questioning the real value of "modern love" that appears cold and meaningless.

The London based Bloc Party updates The Cure's lyrical sincerity, Blur's instrumental brilliance, The Clash's pulsing production techniques and reflects on contemporaries Franz Ferdinand by shaping a unique blend of high-energy rock 'n roll.
