The Mystic Braves are a neo-psychedelic band, original named Blackfeet Braves, that formed in Los Angeles in 2011. The bands' line-up is Julian Ducatenzeiler on guitar and vocals, Tony Malacara on bass, Shane Stotsenberg on rhythm guitar and Cameron Gartung on drums.
In October 2012, the group released their self-titled album with Lollipop Records. That album is now available both digitally and on vinyl from Bandcamp along with a follow up two track 7" titled "Please Let me Know". The group has managed to team up with another southern California retro/roots rock act, the brilliant Growlers, to open for them as they tour in support of their own first album.
The Sizlacks, presumably named after Moe Sizlack from The Simpsons or the reptilian Sleestaks from Land of the Lost, are a talented and unsigned retro rock act from Perth, Australia.
The Sizlacks are made up of Tyson Meaney, Sam Johnson and Jeremy Robinson. They are a self-described "psychedelic blues rock" three piece who are influenced by 60's icons Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin and the Doors as well as modern acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Black Keys.
The Make-Up formed in 1995 in Washington D.C. and played their own version of garage rock and soul until 2000 releasing four studio records, two live albums and a compilation CD of singles and B-sides.
All of these albums were originally released on independent record labels such as Dischord Records (Minor Threat also a DC band), K Records (Beck's first record label), and Southern Records (Crass).
The band recorded with a number of artists including Fugazi's Guy Picciotto and Ian MacKaye while touring extensively with many groups like Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Ted Leo and Blonde Redhead.
The Make-Up reformed in Spring of 2012 to perform at I'll Be Your Mirror a music festival in Camber Sands, East Sussex, England.
The Psychic Ills, founded in 2003, do not sound like what you think a typical NYC act sounds like. There's no punk aesthetic, for one. It's almost entirely low key and down tempo music that is only briefly punctuated by frantic orchestral movements. This technique may symbolize the experience of emotional turmoil coming in the middle of a deep desire for tranquility - a jarring thing surrounded by waves of euphoric bliss. Each album sounds different and distinctive, sometimes using altogether different types of instruments such as electronic/drum machines on 2003's debut "Early Violence" to create this effect and also finding a way for each album to come from it's own sonic "place" with more of a retro approach as heard on "Dins" released in 2006.
Their latest creation, “One Track Mind” was released on February 13th 2013.

Death In Vegas, a psychedelic/electronic duo based in the U.K., are a group that broke right before the Millennium in the US. Their success came in the middle of a mostly tired electronic scene that was busy making hyper elevator music and gleefully worshiping acts like Moby. Like disco in the 1970's it was mostly the drugs driving the scene and not the music itself.
Enter Death In Vegas and their album, Dead Elvis. The record went the opposite direction of the scene, never neglecting substance over style and channeled a darker, more raw version of American pop culture. For example, lead single from 1997's Dead Elvis titled "Dirt" samples from the MC at the Woodstock addressing the crowd, as well as "The "Fish" Cheer / I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag," by Country Joe & the Fish.
The band is still actively touring the world, fostering new bands like Dark Horses and has 5 original albums and 2 "Best of" to their credit to date.
Passover by The Black Angels is the first of the Austin, Texas area band's three great albums that take BRMC into a more experimental psychedelic direction that locals have been enjoying since May of 2004. The band has announced plans to release a double-disc collecting Passover and Directions To See A Ghost called Another Nice Pair in the near future.
The Black Angels are regulars of music festivals including the Austin Psychedelic Music Fest and SXWS and tour nationally at historic clubs like Southgate House in northern Kentucky and Ziggys in North Carolina. The band plans on being at the next Austin Psyche Fest coming up in April of 2012.
